What is the best adventure activity for a first-timer? Start with something calm and short, like paddleboarding, a zip line or an indoor climbing wall, then build up.

Start with the people, not the activity

Think about who is coming. A mixed group of ages needs something everyone can join, such as karting or a zip line. A group of friends who like a challenge might enjoy coasteering or white water rafting.

Check the small print

Most providers set a minimum age, a weight limit or a fitness level. Read these before you book, and ask if you are unsure. It is better to hear a no now than at the car park.

Think about the weather

Some activities run in any weather. Others, like ballooning, depend on the wind. Ask what happens if the day is cancelled, and whether you can move the date or get your money back.

Visit the provider’s own website

Every listing on Laird Events links to the provider. That is where you will find current prices, dates and booking. Use our directory to compare, then talk to them direct.
