Guide

Plan your day

A simple guide to choosing an activity, whether you are organising a day for friends and family or for your whole company. Follow the steps, then use the directory to compare providers.

For groups of friends and family

  1. Pick the mood. Calm and scenic, or fast and loud? That narrows things down quickly.
  2. Check the ages and limits. Minimum ages, weight and height limits and fitness levels differ for every activity.
  3. Choose a month. The activity pages show the best time of year for each one.
  4. Compare two or three providers. Use the directory, then check prices and reviews on their own sites.
  5. Ask about cancellations. Find out what happens if the weather turns or someone drops out.

For companies and work teams

  1. Decide what the day is for. A new team, a reward, or a reset all call for different things.
  2. Ask the team. A quick poll with an active option and a quiet one helps everyone feel included.
  3. Set a budget per head. Ask what the price covers, including food, facilitation and kit.
  4. Check access and numbers. Travel time, parking, accessibility and the largest group the provider can take.
  5. Get a back-up plan in writing. A good provider will have an indoor option for rain.

Questions

Common questions

Do you take bookings on Laird Events?

No. Every listing links to the provider's own website. You book, pay and ask questions direct with them.

How far ahead should I book?

For weekends in summer, book four to eight weeks ahead. For corporate days with larger groups, start asking three months before. Weekdays and winter dates are usually easier.

What if the weather is bad?

Ask the provider before you book. Some activities, such as ballooning, are often moved for wind. Others run in the rain. Good providers explain their cancellation and rebooking rules clearly.

Are prices on Laird Events fixed?

No. The prices shown are a guide to what people often pay. Always check the provider's website or ask for a quote.

Can I get help choosing?

Use the directory filters to compare options, and read the activity pages for who each one suits. If you are still unsure, email us and we will point you in the right direction.
