In the Air

Hot air ballooning

Drift over the countryside at sunrise or sunset in a wicker basket. A hot air balloon rises with the heat from a gas burner, then goes where the wind sends it. Flights usually start at dawn or just before sunset, when the air is calmest.

You stand in a basket with a small group and a pilot. The ride is gentle and quiet apart from the occasional burst of the burner. Most trips last around an hour in the air, plus time to help pack the balloon away.
